“I understand that divorce is one of the most traumatic events you may ever experience, and will help you navigate through this difficult time.”

Nanette L. Karls has worked at Koritzinsky & Karls, LLC since 1993.  She began working as an associate, and became a partner in 1997.   She considers herself extremely lucky to work with everyone in the office, and to do what she loves doing.

Nanette’s practice focuses in the areas of Family Law, Residential Real Estate, Probate, and Life and Estate Planning.  She currently serves on the Board for the Collaborative Family Law Council of Wisconsin and has extensive training in collaborative divorce.  She is also a member of the Dane County Bar Association and the State Bar of Wisconsin. She also enjoys helping people finalize a loved one’s financial affairs, through the probate process or other means.

Although Nanette is a strong proponent of collaborative divorce, she also has significant experience with the other methods of handling a divorce, including mediation and the traditional adversarial approach.  She also has a great deal of experience representing one client while the other spouse proceeds pro se (without an attorney). She realizes that divorce can be one of the most traumatic and devastating events in a person’s life, and she appreciates the chance to help her clients through this process.

Nanette also enjoys helping clients buy or sell residential real estate, or helping a client terminate a contract in the appropriate case.  In addition, Nanette offers more than twenty years of experience in life and estate planning.

Nanette’s philosophy in all legal matters is that the ultimate decisions belong to the client, as long as the client is well-informed regarding all options and choices.

Nanette grew up on a small dairy farm in Sullivan, Wisconsin, where she learned the meaning of hard work. She graduated with Honors from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, majoring in Agricultural Economics, in 1988.  She also graduated Cum Laude from the University of Wisconsin Law School in 1991.   Nanette currently lives in Oregon, Wisconsin with her husband, and they have a son and a daughter.  When Nanette is not working, she loves spending time with family and friends, traveling to national parks, reading, and scrapbooking.
